In this century science and technology are growing astonishingly and its impact in deferent sectors is inevitable.
In this post, I will share the direct impact of science and technology in the hospitality industry and how you can use them to enhance the quality of your service.
Wonders shall never end.
In this globalization world, everything is getting smart. Smartphone, smart TV, smart car, and yet smart hotels
I didn’t believe the first time I hear about smart hotels until I came across one.
By the way, what is a smart hotel, and how it works?
In simple terms, I can define a Smart hotel as an internet-based hotel whereby a guest can enjoy most of the service through the electronic process.
The basic feature of the smart hotel includes electronic kiosk where a guest can book a room and order other services, you can unlock your room doors with your smartphone, there is a robot integration system where it can talk to you in your room, wireless room management system, etc.
The use of Robots in the hospitality sector is now a normal thing and their treat to replace human beings is increasing day by day. For example, the Henn-na Hotel in Nagasaki, Japan uses robots in doing everything.
The artificial intelligent configured on these robots enable them to create a human conversation and responds to most of the things like just human being.
While performing hospitality tasks, they are faster, accurate, and efficient than an ordinary human being. The only shortcoming is that they are so expensive to handle things which make them affordable with bigger hotels only.
Artificial Intelligence (AI)
The major impact of AI have in the hospitality industry is customer service. AI has no flaws when it comes to guest-hosting and customer satisfaction.
It helps many companies handle instance customer needs both in the online environment and hotel environment. For example, some hotels have installed voice-controlled systems and custom information hubs on their hotel to enhance the general customer experience.
On the other hand, Chatbots play a major role in handling customers on the online environment.
Virtual travel (VT)
This is another wonder of the world. However its history can be traced far back in 1994, but its improvements are adding more value to this aspect.
Virtual travel or virtual tour can be defined to mean an electronic simulation tour that is taken by a person through digital devices without necessarily visiting the real location physically.
The most common devices used in VT are VT headsets that use other multimedia elements such as sound effects, music, narration, and text.
Also, most companies have developed VT apps that you can use on your smartphone.
VT is changing the hospitality trends because most VT devices can make a person feels like he/she is totally taken to different environments. Imagine walking through a hotel room before you book, or exploring a location’s sights and sounds as you narrow down a shortlist of vacation destinations, all from inside your home and using your phone.
My journey was to pass you through the impact of science and technology on the Hospitality industry, especially on Travel and Tourism.
The bottom line is science and technology have a major impact on the hospitality industry through smart hotels, robots, AI, and VT.
